I don’t normally do self portraits, but I felt compelled to make this as soon as I got out of the hospital last week.
Usually, I’m the one that is in my “feels” when looking at art - contemplating, breaking down, analyzing, and admiring.
Art makes me feel some type of way, good or bad, and unknowingly, the work I create does the same for others - I came to this realization recently via private feedback from a range of friends & strangers alike.
It inspired me & motivated me to continue creating even when I felt like quitting…
This is just a friendly reminder that even in our brokenness, there’s beauty. There’s beauty in our struggles because it humbles and makes us human.
We can relate to others and share in each others’ sorrows, while simultaneously celebrating each others joys.
To know pain, to feel loved, to be alive - I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
