I felt compelled to paint this as I was released from he hospital. I broke my sternum in an accident and on top of my already injured spine, I felt it necessary to portray myself as bare as bones, since that’s the basis for our entire structure. It’s symbolic of my belief in life after death, beauty in the brokenness, and rising from ashes.
